John Dudley, a teacher from Wisconsin, has designed and developed C.R.I.M.S. (Classroom Information Management Software) under the company name,
C.R.I.M.S. is designed to be user friendly, and classroom teacher affordable, Dudley said. It can generate student progress reports; create electronic lesson plans; protect students with a sign out security system; and monitor and record detentions.
Individual programs can be purchased for US$20 each. A Teacher Pak, which includes eight modules, is $75. They run on Macs and PCs.
“The first phase of my plan has been very successful,” Dudley told MacCentral. “K-12 teachers have available to them an affordable, professional, cross platform; classroom information management system. In the second phase we have developed a college course in information management for classroom teachers. Our course targets the K-12 teacher for initial certification or for continuing education.”
This course may be taught onsite or part of a distant learning program. In phase three, Dudley plans on moving the software towards an ASP environment, allowing all 14,600-plus schools in the United States access to their system of classroom information management.
