Wolfpack Studios has long been at work on Shadowbane, a massively multiplayer online game with role-playing and large-scale strategy elements. Shadowbane will be published this year by Gathering of Developers for both Windows and Mac OS. Recently the company updated its Web site with new details about the game.
Shadowbane casts players into a medieval realm populated by — hopefully — thousands of other players. The game has garnered a great deal of interest from online Mac gaming enthusiasts since so few massively multiplayer games now exist for the Mac. In Shadowbane, players must form alliances and act together in order to gain power and prestige in the kingdom, and they will clash in giant online conflagrations.
The Shadowbane Web site has been updated with a new Interactive Political World Map that displays a sneak peak at their first beta world, called “Aerynth.” Users can get more information on the first 8 safeholds (cities run by the resident game masters); hypothetical examples of how player kingdoms evolve over time. The site also includes information on Guild formation and leadership; examples of coats of arms; screenshots of how player decisions affect the political landscape, and much more. Visit the Shadowbane Web site for more details.
Earlier this month Gathering of Developers outlined their Macintosh release strategy for 2001, and indicated that they will publish Shadowbane this summer.
