today released an update for its emulation program, Virtual PC, bringing it to version 4.0.1.
Virtual PC 4
allows Mac users to run PC applications, access Windows networks, and share files with Windows users. With the program users can run Mac and Windows operating systems side-by-side. You can drag and drop text and data between Windows and Mac applications and you can use the same disk drives, printers and Internet connections.
The latest updates fixes several problems including:
Resolved a problem that resulted in an “object variable not set error”
Fixed an integer rounding bug in Microsoft Excel
Incorporated fixes for Java JIT compilers
Fixed an issue with Novell Netware login and connections using Shared IP
The warning dialog for low Mac hard drive space now displays correctly
Connectix also incorporated OS 9.1 compatibility in the latest version, with one exception. The company said there is one known, very specific issue with printing and Mac OS 9.1. If you attempt to print to a direct serial printer and you are using Epson emulation, your document may have black and white bands across it.
While the company said they are working with Apple to resolve the issue they have provided the following workaround:
Print to a direct serial printer using the PostScript Emulation (if applicable.)
