The Omni Group has released a new version of their popular Web browser for Mac OS X Public Beta, OmniWeb. The new version, 4.0b9, is ready for download from their Web site.
OmniWeb provides Mac OS X Public Beta users with an alternative to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, which is included with the operating system. OmniWeb provides various features like easy-to-use bookmarks, keyboard shortcuts, shrink-to-fit window zooms, and an “Aquafied” user interface. The software supports JavaScript, Flash, Layers, and SSL, as well.
OmniWeb 4.0b9 gains bug fixes and enhancements, and disables Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) support because it is incomplete. The Omni Group reports that 4.0b9 should be more stable than previous versions, as well.
The Omni Group has its roots in OpenStep software development. The company has produced a variety of software applications for Apple’s OS X Server and Mac OS X Public Beta, including OmniGraffle, OmniPDF, OmniOutliner, and OmniDiskSweeper. More information about the company’s products is available from their Web site.
OmniWeb is available for free, though users are encouraged to purchase a license if they use the software. OmniWeb 4.0 costs US$29.95 per seat, with volume discounts and educational pricing available.
