In the new film, “Antitrust,” Macs are everywhere, though mostly camouflaged as anonymous boxes, according to MacCentral readers, Avery Raskin and Bob Drake.
The on-screen code looks mostly like Unix, amusingly enough, but there’s no mistaking the Apple keyboards attached to everything, and one black PowerBook G3 is plenty visible, complete with lit up Apple logo on the screen back, Avery said. A Pismo PowerBook is evident in the scene where actor Ryan Phillippe’s character is typing on a keyboard in the “nursery,” notes Drake.
And the main bad guy, a Bill Gates-like character played by Tim Robbins, appears to have a titanium G4 PowerBook on his desk, but the screen isn’t 15 inches. A prototype, perhaps?
Moving on, there’s a PowerBook G3 in the rich kids’ drug scene in “Traffic,” notes Chris Volpe.
Plus, on Feb. 2, “Left Behind: The Movie” will be opening in theaters nationwide and there are several obvious spottings of Macs, according to Matthew DeJesus, who has seen the pre-release on video.
“I was surprised to see the Macs shown as obvious as they were,” he said. “For example, one scenes cuts to a man on a PowerBook viewed with the character facing you so that you can clearly see the white Apple logo on the back. The PowerBook takes up a good portion of screen real estate. This is just one example.”
