Proteron today announced the first update available for its audio file creation utility, N2MP3 Professional. The new version, 2.0.1, is ready for download from Proteron’s FTP site.
N2MP3 Pro enables professional users like bands, musicians and DJs to create MP3 files. Proteron indicates that the software has been developed from the ground up to cater to audio pros rather than consumers by delivering high-quality MP3 audio file conversion.
N2MP3 Pro provides industry-standard Fraunhofer encoding, and also supports the open-source LAME encoder, as well as Proteron’s proprietary MPegger engine, which is optimized for the G4. Proteron indicates that N2MP3 Pro is the only program which provides support for real-time recording into MP3, MP2 and other codecs.
The new version of N2MP3 Pro sports support for Sound Designer II (.SD2) files; fixes bugs involving CD recognition and ejection; and disables recording audio in while encoding another file. Proteron recommends upgrading to 2.0.1 for all users — the new version is a free update for all registered users.
N2MP3 Pro system requirements call for a PowerPC-based Mac and Mac OS 8.5 or higher. The software costs US$59.95. Upgrade prices from N2MP3 1.x and MPegger are both available, as well.
