If you have a need for large-scale CD duplication, you may want to check out a new set of offerings from
Fantom Drives. The company has introduced a new 16x Compact Disc Duplication System product line. Featuring 16x10x40 CD-ReWritable drive mechanisms from Yamaha, these new duplication systems are now available in 2-up, 5-up, and 10-up configurations.
The Standalone CD Duplication Systems feature built-in duplication controllers. The systems are able to complete a CD copy in under five minutes, and can copy up to 120 ISO-9660, HFS/HFS+, Mixed-Mode, CD-XA, CD-DA, Photo CD, Video CD, or Audio CDs in one hour. The built-in controller automatically identifies the source and destination media, enabling the unit to be operated by users with virtually no training, Fantom claims.
In “Standalone Mode,” the Fantom Drives CD Duplication System can read a source CD to its built-in hard disk drive for immediate duplication, or long-term archiving. Because several CD images may be stored at any one time, multiple runs of different CDs can be duplicated on an “as-need” basis.
Alternatively, the Fantom Drives CD Duplication System may also be connected to a Mac or PC workstation and used in “Online Mode,” which turns the main CD-RW drive unit into a standard SCSI device. The main drive may then be used with optional disc-mastering software (such as Roxio Toast or Easy CD-Creator) to create a master disc for copying, data-backup, or to produce one disc, if no other copies are needed.
Fantom Drives 16x Compact Disc Duplication Systems are available in three flavors: CD-Duplication System 16x10x40, 2-up, US$1799; CD-Duplication System 16x10x40, 5-up, $3845; and CD-Duplication System 16x10x40, 10-up, $6499.
