Microsoft Corp. announced Tuesday it has hired former Apple sales and marketing executive Dan’l Lewin to head up its .Net service and find new partners.
Lewin, 46, will be vice president of business development for .Net and will be responsible for finding computer-industry partners for the service. .Net is Microsoft’s effort to create software that links PCs, Web sites and devices.
Lewin, who worked at Apple from 1981 to 1985, was sales and marketing director. He was one of several Apple employees that left to help found NeXT Computer Inc. with Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.
Lewin will work in Microsoft’s Mountain View, Calif., office.
