Primera Technology Inc. is now shipping its Bravo Disc Publisher for Macs. First introduced at Macworld Conference & Expo this past January, Bravo is an automated duplicating and printing system designed for the production of up to 25 CDs or DVDs per job.
Compatible with any Mac running Mac OS X and sporting FireWire and USB interfaces, the system boasts a robotic mechanism for transporting discs into the built-in 52x CD-R recorder or optional Pioneer combo DVD-R/CD-R recorder. After recording, discs are transported to the integrated printer and printed in color at up to 2400dpi resolution. Bravo prints directly onto the disc surface, so you don’t need hand-applied paper labels.
Targeted to businesses, churches, film and video producers, photography studios, music groups, and schools, Bravo comes with Charismac Engineering’s Discribe 5.0 duplication software. The Discribe CD/DVD mastering software provides mastering capabilities for more than 250 supported mechanisms, including CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD+RW systems. Mac users can design labels in such graphic design applications as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, then import them into Discribe.
Two Bravo models are available. The Bravo CD Publisher with a 52x CD-R recorder has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of US$1,995. The Bravo DVD Publisher with a Pioneer DVD-R/CD-R recorder costs $2,495. The DVD-R unit records DVD-Rs at 4x and CD-Rs at 16x. A $199 business card adapter kit is also available for copying and printing 80mm mini-discs, rounded “hockey rink” mini-discs, and business card-shaped CDs.
