Planar Systems Inc. has announced a new addition to its premium PX line of flat-panel displays. The company’s new PX191 is a 19 inch LCD display with a 700:1 contrast ratio and a brightness of 300 cd/m2. Planar’s specifications indicate a contrast ratio that’s about as twice as high as Apple’s 20 and 23 inch Cinema Display, and brightness rating that’s higher than any of Apple’s offerings.
The PX191 sports a native SXGA (1280 x 1024 pixel) resolution, a response time of 25ms and a refresh rate of 56-75Hz. The PX191 has a 170 degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles, and features analog and DVI-D video inputs. Users can add television and video inputs using Planar’s optional Video-EX interface.
The screen measures about 2.3 inches deep. The PX191 also comes with Planar’s QuadStand base stand, which makes it easier for users to swivel, pivot, tilt and adjust the height of the display with just a finger touch. The display comes in black or silver bezels, and it can be locked down with its Kensington Security slot.
Look for the PX191 to ship in May with an estimated street price of US$849. The monitor comes with a 3 year warranty, including 2-Day Air monitor replacement.
