Mac accessories maker MacMice.com has introduced ErgoMac, a new line of VESA-standard mounting products for Apple products including LCD displays, iBooks and PowerBooks.
VESA, or Video Electronics Standards Association, is a consortium of manufacturers who seek to standardize video protocols. VESA has promoted mounting standards for displays that conform to a 100mm or 75mm square bolt hole pattern, and such specifications are used by a number of companies who manufacture video displays. Alas, Apple isn’t one of them.
ErgoMac’s products start out with the iGrab, a suction cup-based mounting plate that comes in four sizes and load ratings. The iGrab enables PowerBook and iBook users, as well as Cinema Display users, to mount up their systems to VESA-compliant mounting hardware.
If the idea of mounting your Cinema Display using suction cups leaves you less than confident, MacMice.com also offers the ErgoMac One, an acrylic bracket that holds the display in place both from the top and the bottom. It also works with Apple 15 and 17 inch Studio Displays.
To complement the iGrab, MacMice.com also offers VESA mounting hardware — the ErgoMac Desk Stand, for example, elevates your display or laptop 10 to 16 inches above the work surface. If you’d prefer to clamp your display’s stand to the side or back of a work surface instead of just elevating it, the aluminum alloy-constructed ErgoMac Arm is another option. And the ErgoMac Wall Mount provides a way to get your Cinema Display off the desk all together.
MacMice.com said that these new offerings are the first of a complete assortment of VESA mounting accessories for Macs and Mac peripherals. The ErgoMac line joins other MacMice.com products including the IceMate base for the PowerMac, the iCinema display riser stand, and the iTilt, a riser for PowerBooks and iBooks.
