German music software developer Native Instruments has announced plans to add support for Digidesign’s Real Time Audio Suite (RTAS) standard. Native Instruments makes software-based synthesizers, DJ tools, samplers, effects engines, and more.
The company will offer RTAS support on all new products going forward. What’s more, Native Instruments plans to update its existing products with RTAS support too. RTAS takes the place of the older DirectConnect standard in Native Instrument’s products.
“With RTAS support the integration of NI software synthesizers, samplers and effects into ProTools systems reaches a new level of quality. Soon all NI products will offer ProTools users complete automation, total recall, and remote control of all plug-in control elements via Digidesign hardware controllers,” said Native Instruments.
Native Instruments has posted a Web page that explains more, and offers a schedule for upcoming RTAS support. The company has also separately posted a development schedule for its release of Mac OS X-native versions of its tools, as well. For the most part, new Mac OS X versions support OS X’s Audio Units technology, including Core Audio and Core MIDI, as well as VST 2.0. The company’s schedule calls for products to be released updated monthly through October. Native Instruments’ RTAS announcement includes Mac OS X and Mac OS 9 support, too.
