Gefen Inc. has introduced a new line monitors, a new VGA to DVI Adapter and the 4×4 DVI Matrix Switch at this week’s NAB2003 conference.
The new dual-purpose TV-computer LCD monitors are designed to offer full or partial screen television viewing while working on a personal computer. Prices start at US$799.
The monitors range in size from 12- to 18-inches and can be placed on your desktop or hung on the wall. Each is built to handle digital video, television, touchscreens, and additional audio support without the need for extra software or hardware (though TV viewing, of course, requires a cable or antenna connection). Other features include remote control operation, picture-in-picture capability, built-in speakers, and a range of customizable settings.
Gefen’s new ex-tend-it VGA to DVI Adapter, an addition to its existing line of analog to digital conversion solutions, accepts the analog signal from a computer, performs the analog to digital transition within its box, then communicates that signal directly to the digital display. The $700 VGA to DVI Adapter comes with its own power supply and analog/digital connection cables and offers digital scaling in three resolutions.
Gefen has also announced its new 4×4 DVI Matrix Switch, which combines four independent DVI inputs together with four independent DVI outputs. Four computers can then be operated independently of each other or simultaneously with the option to cross-reference the remaining three at any time from each screen. Switching between computers is handled by selection on a centrally located Switcher or by using an optional remote control.
It’s targeted to those who operate more than one computer and work with new digital flat panel displays. Due in July, the 4×4 DVI Matrix will carry a suggested retail price of $1,999.
