German Mac game publisher e.p.i.c. interactive has announced plans to bring Funatics Software’s Northland to the Macintosh.
Northland is an adventure strategy sequel to Cultures 2 — The Gates of Asgard, an earlier title developed by Funatics and published for the PC by JoWood Productions. The game draws on Viking myth and legend to serve as a backdrop: The Viking god Loki tries to take revenge on Odin for his banishment for Asgard to Earth, and involves the four heroes in Northland in his revenge.
The game features a single-player campaign with eight missions, each including sub-missions. 8 additional non-campaign single player missions are included, and three difficulty levels are also included. The game uses the enhanced AI technology present in Cultures 2 — The Gates of Asgard, and features special effects like weather, fog, ghost units and more.
The e.p.i.c. Web site has been updated with some preliminary information about Northland, along with screenshots. The company said that Northland for Mac OS will be released in the third quarter of 2003. Preliminary system requirements for the Mac version were unavailable as MacCentral posted this article. If the game’s PC specs are any indication, requirements should be modest.
