Insider Software’s new version (1.2.1) of FontAgent Pro unveils what the company says is a another Insider first — the ability to auto-activate fonts in Adobe Photoshop via a special plug-in. Adding to its font auto-activation in other Mac OS X applications, FontAgent Pro also offers automatic activation in Quark Xpress, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator.
FontAgent Pro is a font manager and repair utility that repairs or eliminates corrupt fonts, partial and unmatched fonts, duplicate fonts, unnecessary point sizes and builds optimized, organized font libraries. FontAgent Pro lets you build font libraries and font sets, activate and deactivate fonts, preview fonts in various typefaces, and open just the fonts you need for current projects.
Besides the Photoshop auto-activation feature, version 1.2.1 also lets you save changes that have been made to open files, even if the fonts themselves haven’t been modified.
FontAgent Pro requires Mac OS X 10.2 or later. Version 1.2.1 has a suggested retail price of US$99.95 — or $89.95 for an electronic download. It’s a free update to registered users. FontAgent 8 customers can license FontAgent Pro for $49.95. A demo version is available at the Insider Software Web site.
