Need to dial a telephone from a FileMaker database in Mac OS X? You can now with Automated Workflows’ aptly named “Dial Phone From FileMaker” AppleScript application.
Under Mac OS 9, FileMaker Pro databases could be configured to dial a phone number through the use of an internal script. However, this feature isn’t yet available in the Mac OS X version of FileMaker. “Dial Phone” is an external AppleScript application that overcomes this by offering the ability to extract a phone number from a field in a FileMaker Pro database, and then dial that number using Internet Connect.
The AppleScript may be triggered from a FileMaker database, using the “Send Apple Event” script. The cost of “Dial Phone” is US$15.
