Sorenson Media has announced that Avid Technology Inc. will include a special version of Sorenson Squeeze 3 Compression Suite with Avid’s new Xpress Pro video editing software. Announced earlier this week, Xpress Pro is a new Mac OS X-native package with more advanced features than Avid’s Xpress DV software, available now. It’s being offered optionally with the Mojo interface, a portable, external apparatus that’s part of Avid’s new Digital Nonlinear Accelerator (DNA) line.
Sorenson Squeeze 3 Compression Suite enables Xpress Pro users working with Mac OS X to deliver encoded video for QuickTime, Flash and MPEG-4 (including Visual Simple Profile and Visual Advanced Simple Profile). What’s more, editors can send their video directly to Sorenson Squeeze 3 Compression Suite directly through Xpress Pro without having to go through an export process.
The customized version of Squeeze 3 Compression Suite bundled with Xpress Pro features one-pass and two-pass variable bit rate (VBR) encoding, intelligent presets that automatically adjust bit rate, frame rate, filter controls and other settings, and more.
Avid Xpress Pro, bundled with the special version of Sorenson Squeeze 3 Compression Suite, is headed for release in the third quarter of 2003. It carries a suggested retail price of US$1,695 and includes Windows XP and Mac OS X versions together.
