Other World Computing (OWC) has revved the storage capacity of its line of Mercury Elite FireWire + USB 2.0/1.1 Combo solutions to as much as 250GB while cutting prices on previous models.
The Mercury Elite line, previously topped out at 120GB, now includes 160GB, 180GB, 200GB, and 250GB versions. The 7200RPM combo drives, which feature two FireWire ports and one USB port, are compatible with Mac OS X (10.0.3 and higher) and Mac OS 8.5-9.2.x. Prices for the new 160-250GB Mercury Elite FireWire + USB 2.0/1.1 Combo drives range from US$339.99 to $479.99 depending on capacity.
Pricing has also been updated on existing Mercury Elite FireWire + USB 2.0/1.1 Combo series drives. The 120GB with 8MB of cache is now $249.99, formerly $279.99; the 120GB model with 2MB of cache is now $229.99, formerly $259.99; 80GB with 2MB of cache now $199.99, formerly $209.99; 60GB with 2MB of cache now $179.99, formerly $189.99 and the 40GB model with 2MB of cache is $167.99, formerly $169.99. OWC has also cut prices up to $20 on all Mercury Elite FW 400 FireWire-only storage solutions.
