SCA Mecanica has upgraded Quick Pallet Maker, its pallet-loading/packaging design software for Mac OS X and Mac OS 7.x-9.x, to version 3.0. The update introduces a box fill feature, a pallet layer editor, bottles, and new palletizing arrangements. There’s also a change to the calculation engine that allows more flexibility and a wider array of pallet solutions, according to SCA Mecanica.
Quick Pallet Maker is a package design application that calculates and displays optimal pallet loads, based on primary package or box dimensions and load restrictions. Most products are shipped in boxes and then in standard pallets. Most of the time, these standard pallets are shipped within standard containers or in trucks. Frequently, there’s some extra volume and/or weight in the containers or in the trucks that is billed anyway by the carrier but that’s not used by the client. The use of this extra space through software tools should be an important factor for all manufacturers, according to SCA Mecanica.
Quick Pallet Maker costs US$379 per license for up to four licenses. Volume discounts are 10 percent for 3-4 licenses and 20 percent for five or more licenses. A free 30-day trial version can be downloaded from the SCA Mecanica Web site.
