dvGarage has released the “Photogrammetry Brain Dump,” a QuickTime-based disk that walks artists through camera calibration, modeling and texturing 3D models from a handful of photos. (Photogrammetry is the name of the process of converting ordinary photographs into 3D models.)
Applications for photogrammetry go beyond visual effects. Over the past five years, photogrammetry has also been used for security, architectural and archeological visualization. Despite the growth, there has been little to no training available anywhere for those interested until now, according to dvGarage founder Alex Lindsay.
The Photogrammetry Brain Dump” is over 1.5 hours long. The disk is based on REALVIZ’s Image Modeler 3.5 and is Mac and Windows compatible.
