Mac game publisher Aspyr Media today noted that a long-awaited patch for its Mac conversion of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 is at last available, almost two months after it was first expected. The patch adds multiplayer capabilities and force feedback.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 was published for the Macintosh at the end of January. Developed for the Mac by Beenox and published by Aspyr, it’s the latest shipping version of the popular game series that originated on video game consoles featuring the eponymous pro skater, who also happens to be a big Mac fan and star of his own Apple Switch ad. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 lets gamers play as Tony or a variety of other real-life pro skaters — or as a completely customized skater — across a variety of courses in different parts of the world.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 buyers have been anxiously anticipating the patch’s release, which was originally anticipated for release in February. In addition to multiplayer gaming capabilities, this patch makes it possible for users of gamepads equipped with Immersion Corp.’s TouchSense technology to feel rumbles and shakes, if they’re using Mac OS X 10.2.3 or higher. Multiplayer capabilities are handled through GameRanger, the Mac-only game matching service.
Aspyr announced plans earlier this month to publish Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4. Mac fans of the series have had one long-standing complaint about Tony Hawk franchise: Its Mac version has, historically, lagged many months behind the release of its PC counterpart. Aspyr is addressing this complaint by publish Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 for both the PC and the Mac.
Distributed by Macgamefiles.com, the 1.8MB patch will update the game to version 1.0.1.
