have released a new, free accessibility extension to enhance the current options that come with Dreamweaver MX.
UsableNet’s extensions check for Web accessibility and are designed to help developers and designers build a Web site that meets the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. Federal legislation requires the Web sites of government and educational institutions to be accessible to users with disabilities. With the UsableNet extension, Web sites can be checked for accessibility in the same way a document is spell-checked.
With the extension, reports can be run on one page, a complete site, selected sections or any folder. The extension can also connect users to an additional online service from UsableNet that allows tests to be automatically scheduled on live Web sites. UsableNet’s Accessibility Suite extensions are installed directly into Dreamweaver using Macromedia’s Extension Manager.
