CMS Peripherals has announced the addition of an 80GB model to their portable ABSplus line. The ABSplus provides automatic backup of Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X-based systems to an external hard disk drive.
ABSplus is an integrated hardware and software-based backup system. You plug in the drive to your Mac using FireWire and set up a backup of your Mac’s hard disk. On subsequent connections, ABSplus scans the source drive and automatically copies those files that have changed. You can also boot from ABSplus devices as well, if necessary.
CMS Peripherals offers the ABSplus system in both desktop and portable configurations. This new unit is specifically a portable system. It comes in a shock-mounted case that measures 1.125 x 5 x 3 inches and weighs about 7 ounces. ABSplus requires Mac OS X 10.1 or higher, or Mac OS 9.1 or higher.
The new 80GB portable ABSplus carries a suggested retail price of US$549 and is available now.
