Pixlock has released Exbem 3.0, an image processing application for Mac OS X that processes and analyzes images, movies, and video.
Designed for scientific, technical, and medical applications, Exbem 3.0 allows for the investigation of single images, as well as QuickTime movies, or live video sequences. It provides functionality for basic image manipulation, spatial and temporal filtering, and image analysis. Video can be processed, analyzed, and recorded “on-line” in time-lapse mode or directly at the maximum frame rate.
Version 3.0 is the first to run on Mac OS X and Mac OS 9.x. The update also adds support for 8/16 bit per color channel for images, movies, and video. In addition to the grayscale and RGB color modes, it can operate in the HSV (Hue, Saturation, Value) color space. For best visual perception, a display manager offers control over the way image data is shown on the screen, according to Eberhard Ammelt of Pixlock.
Exbem is optimized for AltiVec and multiple processors. A demo version can be found at the Pixlock Web site.
