IDG, in conjunction with Mac Publishing L.L.C, now offers an alternative delivery option for people interested in receiving monthly issues of Macworld magazine: digital download. With the release of Zinio Reader for Mac OS X, readers can choose to subscribe to Macworld and read it on their computer, instead of receiving a paper copy in the mail each month.
Zinio gives users a unique experience in digital magazine reading by mimicking the turning of pages while you read. Zinio also offers embedded links to products, companies and other features that are only available on Macworld.com.
“Macworld’s partnership with Zinio offers our readers and advertisers exciting new opportunities,” said Colin Crawford, vice president, new business development and operations, IDG. “Macworld readers can now receive the latest issue any time, anywhere in the world, in a digital format that allows for keyword searches for a particular topic of interest and paperless archives so they don’t have to store back issues. In addition, our advertisers will be able to communicate directly to customers via Web links, creating an interactive experience with their target audience.”
The digital magazine has the same content, graphics and advertisements as the print edition and also offers full search capabilities.
Macworld joins other publications such as BusinessWeek, Harvard Business Review, InfoWorld, GamePro, PC World, Motor Trend and others that available in the Zinio format.
When you sign-up for an account, one free issue of Macworld will be automatically downloaded via the Zinio reader. In addition to yearly subscriptions, single copies of the magazine are also available, as are two Macworld special issues, the Mac OS X Buyer’s Guide and the Digital Hub (single copies and special issues can be purchased directly on the Zinio Website).
The Zinio Reader offers support for and requires Mac OS X Version 10.1 and10.2; Support for all browsers; G3 or higher processor; Video card that supports 3-D acceleration; 128MB of RAM; and 100MB of hard disk space.
