UK-based Mac game publisher Virtual Programming Ltd. has announced that two of its current Mac game conversion projects have gone gold master. Gold master is the final development milestone that signifies that a game is ready to go into production.
The first is a historical strategy game called Europa Universalis II. It’s set in the period from 1492 to 1792, as players take the role of one of the major nations of the era. You control diplomacy, economics, warfare, exploration and colonization as you try to expand the influence of your empire across the world. The game features historic scenarios with monarchs, military leaders and technology from the period all represented.
Another War is a role playing game with 2D rendered graphics set in Nazi-controlled Europe during World War II. Virtual Programming said that the game sports a unique sense of humor with allusions to “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “Catch-22,” “Saving Private Ryan” and more, with gameplay evocative of computer RPGs like Fallout and the Baldur’s Gate series.
In this game, you’re caught between warring superpowers as you try to save your friend from the Nazis. You start out in occupied France, and eventually make your way to besieged Leningrad.
Both games are expected to go into production in the coming week, according to the developer. Both games will be distributed in North America by MacPlay.
