The Iconfactory has announced the winners of its Pixelpalooza 2003 contest. The icon drawing contest drew 137 entries this year, with nine selected as winners.
Pixelpalooza 2003 was broken into three major categories for consideration: Mac OS X, CandyBar (The IconFactory and Panic’s Mac OS X customization utility), and Classic Mac OS. Entries were judged on artistic style and originality, as well as popularity. Grand prize winners and runners up were selected in each category, along with the People’s Choice award. Entrants vied for prize packages from the event’s sponsors.
This year’s Pixelpalooza winners came from around the globe. Winners included entrants from Brazil, France, Singapore, Malaysia and Spain.
David Lanham won Grand Prize for his OS X entry entitled Invading Your Space; Jamie McCanless was runner up with B’alam-a-rama. Everaldo Coelho was the People’s Choice winner.
CandyBar’s Grand Prize winner was Christophe Bouchard’s Think Natural; Anne-Sophie Charpié’s Piou was runner up, while Dirceu Veiga’s Comic Icons was picked as the People’s Choice winner.
Classic Mac OS iconography continued to draw a stream of entrants, including Grand Prize winner Michelle Chan for My Neighbor Baby. SeeWe’s Chinese New Year Icon Set was picked as the runner up, while Ramon G. Teja’s Smiling Glasses was picked as People’s Choice winner.
