Esselte Corp. subsidiary DYMO Corp. has begun to e-mail users who signed up for its notification program that its new OS X application software has been released. DYMO manufactures the LabelWriter series, a line of dedicated-use label printers that are Mac and PC-compatible.
DYMO noted on its Web site in early April plans to release a new Mac OS X-compatible version of the printer application software, and encouraged visitors to its Web site to register to be notified when the software was available. MacCentral readers have received such notifications directing them to download the installer, which puts DYMO Label Software v6 on their hard drive.
Besides Mac OS X compatibility, new features in DYMO Label Software v6 include a new user interface, an integrated Address Book, on-label text editing, improved handling of label files, the ability to print CD and DVD labels, and “Smart Paste” functionality.
The new version of DYMO Label Software requires Mac OS X 10.1 or later. LabelWriters supported by the software include the USB-equipped EL40, EL60, Turbo, 300, 310, 315, 320, 330 and 330 Turbo models. Older LabelWriters, including serial-based models and models connected via a serial to USB adapter, are not supported, according to DYMO.
As MacCentral posted this article, the DYMO Web site had not yet been updated with information about the new software’s release.
