FileWave Inc. has released Asset Trustee v6.5, an update to their asset tracking system for Mac OS X, “Classic” Mac OS and Windows.
Asset Trustee is aimed at network managers and system administrators in businesses or other organizations who need to collect information about the hardware and software used on their network. Asset Trustee captures detailed hardware, software and configuration data from desktop systems, laptops, servers and network devices.
Asset Trustee works with a client that collects the data from the devices, then compiles that content into an inventory database which can be used to create detailed reports about the status of devices connected to the network.
Version 6.5 of Asset Trustee gains a new inventory database. The new database adds new reporting tools. Reports can now be saved as templates, as well. What’s more, different inventory database modules can be used for help desk management, auditing, and asset management.
The Mac OS Classic scanner has been improved with the ability to scan for new items like USB and FireWire-connected peripherals and Mac serial number. More complete font and extension information is obtained, too.
A new scanner has been developed for Mac OS X that reports applications, fonts, kernel extensions and frameworks in addition to all the basic operating system details that Apple System Profiler reports. Improvements have also been made to the Windows scanner.
