Absolute Software has announced Mac support for its ComputracePlus and AbsoluteTrack software. ComputracePlus is a computer tracking and loss control solution; AbsoluteTrack provides secure asset tracking and inventory management. The new Mac versions work with Mac OS X 10.2 or later.
ComputracePlus was developed to help security departments in corporate and educational settings to protect data and attempt to recover computers if they’re stolen. The software can help admins tell when computers change hands, “drift” from department to department and are taken home, and can also help to reclaim lost data using Absolute’s own Forensic Data Recovery service. It can alternately be used — for an additional fee — to wipe data from hard drives if necessary.
AbsoluteTrack helps to manage software licenses, computer leases, machine configurations, computer retirement, upgrades and device ownership, and more. It can also be used to detect when new software or hardware is installed, when software goes out of date, or when unauthorized content is installed, taking corrective action if necessary.
ComputracePlus costs US$49.95 per unit for one year of service for 1 to 99 licenses. AbsoluteTrack costs $19.95 for one year of service for 1-99 licenses. Multiple year service terms and volume discounts are available.
