PublicSpace.net has released A Better Finder Attributes 3.0, the first version of the Finder file attribute utility for Mac OS X.
A Better Finder Attributes is a contextual menu plug-in for the Finder that lets you change the file date and other attributes of Mac OS X files. You can also “lock” files so they can’t be modified, renamed, moved or copied. What’s more, you can decide on a per-file basis whether its file extension is visible or not.
Version 3.0 is a complete rewrite of the application and takes full advantage of Mac OS X’s Cocoa programming APIs (application programming interface), according to PublicSpace.net.
A Better Finder Attributes 3.0 costs US$9.95; there are a variety of upgrade options from previous versions. Also, the Mac OS 9 version can still be downloaded, but won’t be updated in the future.
