SlipStream Data Inc. has announced version 3 of its “Internet acceleration software.” Version 3 adds support for Mac OS X Web browsing and other new features.
SlipStream is a data compression technology employed by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) that is designed to effectively increase the performance of slower dial-up Internet connections. The software works with both client and server-side technology employed by both the dial-up user and the ISP.
SlipStream v3 now adds OS X support for Web browsing, and has enhanced Web browsing speed over previous versions. SlipStream technology is also designed to support e-mail acceleration, but this feature has not yet been deployed for Mac users. Other new features include enhanced reporting for ISPs and more.
Now available for testing, SlipStream v3 is anticipated for a general release in early May, 2003.
