Solutions Etcetera has updated “almost every component” in SuperCard, the software creation tool, as of version 4.1.1, according to Scott Simon, the company’s director of product development.
SuperCard can be used to create just about any type of application, according to its developers — games, teaching aides, utilities, productivity software, automation tools, kiosks and more. Once owned by IncWell DMG, it was purchased by Solutions Etcetera last July.
The 4.1.1 update, a free upgrade to registered 4.x users, includes over 100 changes and additions in direct response to user feedback on the 4.0 release, according to Simon. For new users the cost is US$179 for the Standard Edition and $279 for the Developer Edition. Upgrades from versions of SuperCard prior to 4.x are $129 for the Standard Edition and $179 for the Developer Edition.
The SuperCard Standard Edition includes SuperCard and the Runtime Editor environment, Standalone Maker, and the SuperCard Player. It lets you build your projects into stand-alone applications for both Mac OS X and the traditional Mac operating system — or deliver it as a project file with the freely distributable SuperCard Player.
SuperCard’s Developer Edition includes all the standard components, plus SuperEdit, which offers the ability to secure the scripts of commercially distributed applications. It also includes the SuperCard Internals Toolbox external development environment with a variety of sample projects included. SuperCard 4.1.1 requires Mac OS X (10.1.2 or higher) or Mac OS 8.6-9.x.
