Willow Design has released two new backpacks specifically designed for the 17-inch PowerBook. The US$162 Edgewater is designed for users who range in height from 5′ 3″ to 5′ 7″, while the $165 Garibaldi is for taller people — or those who want to carry more extras.
Both packs were designed from scratch for the new 17-inch PowerBook, according to Nigel Peck of Willow Design. Both feature extra padded internal dividers to isolate the Apple laptop on all sides within the computer compartment. They incorporate a corrugated plastic stiffener within the pack body to provide even more stability.
The Edgewater and Garibaldi feature two main laptop and paperwork compartments with a host of organizer pockets scattered through the packs. There’s also a removable accessory pouch to maximize space utilization in the paperwork compartment.
The packs have special reflective strips on the front, sides and shoulder straps for improved nighttime visibility and safety. Both can convert to a shoulder bag or briefcase style cases. The Edgewater weights 3.8 pounds, while the Garibaldi weighs 4.1 pounds.
