HumanSoftware has released OttoPaths 1.5, a “selection plug-in” that’s compatible with applications supporting plug-ins for Photoshop 5.5 or higher (it also works with Adobe Elements). The US$99 plug-in is built to run under Mac OS X and Mac OS 9.
As a selection plug-in, OttoPaths lets you create paths and flow text along any type of path. You can also use it to step and repeat paths or create objects such as tables, stars, grids and rounded rectangles. The user interface offers a large preview area and unlimited zooming on any portion of the working area.
With the plug-in, you can warp text or shapes inside custom envelopes. OttoPath comes with 50 envelopes, but you can also create your own. You can implement precise warping on top of any grayscale, RGB or CMYK image, according to HumanSoftware.
There are also multiple tools to create geometrical objects. You can create clip-paths with the PolyCurve tool and distort text or paths with the Perspective/Resize/Rotate tool.
