IK Multimedia has unveiled AmpliTube Live, a standalone virtual guitar amp and fx modeling software for Mac OS X. Previously, it was available as a Pro Tools plug-in.
AmpliTube Live lets you combine three different pre-amp models and related equalizers with three emulated cabinets for crafting a palette of guitar sounds ranging from clean to crunch to lead. AmpliTube Live comes with four classic effects, including Spring Reverb and three stomp-like effects including Wah-Wah, Delay and Overdrive. It also sports a chromatic tuner.
AmpliTube Live takes advantage of Mac OS X’s Core Audio features. It features 128 presets (64 factory, 64 users) to emulate a range of amp-sounds; the sounds can be selected live with any general MIDI foot controller.
AmpliTube Live is compatible with Mac OS X 10.2 and higher. The list price of AmpliTube is $150; it’s due to ship before the end of the month.
