Logitech is offering its MX 700 rechargeable cordless optical mouse and the Cordless Elite Keyboard in a new US$99 Cordless MX Duo combination. It’s Mac OS X compatible, though some features still favor Windows users.
The MX700 mouse utilizes RF cordless technology and the MX Optical Engine that Logitech claims can track accelerations up to 10Gs. It uses rechargeable NiMH batteries and a “rapid charge” base station.
The cordless keyboard features a “smart navigation” zone (for scrolling, zooming and accessing Web sites) and multimedia controls. It has a Zero Degree Tilt design that provides a low-profile plane for comfortable typing.
Logitech cordless keyboards have incorporated a privacy feature along with a 12-bit security ID code to protect the transmission of your information between the keyboard and computer, according to Logitech.
A proprietary encryption algorithm is implemented to ensure that each stroke of an alphanumeric key on the keyboard is randomly scrambled before transmission from the keyboard. The receiver hardware then captures the data and decrypts it back to the original key that was pressed.
