Doug’s AppleScripts for iTunes, a site with over 180 AppleScripts for use with Apple’s iTunes, has posted Make Mine MPEG-4 v4.2. It’s an AppleScript that automates the process of ripping, then encoding, iTunes CD tracks as MPEG-4 audio files using QuickTime 6.x Pro.
With iTunes 4, you can rip CD tracks as AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) files using QuickTime Pro, but there are few options for changing audio quality, streaming and compatibility settings. With Make Mine MPEG-4, you can rip iTunes CD tracks as MPEG-4/AAC files (.mp4, .mov or, with version 4.2, m4a) while using QuickTime Pro’s export settings.
You can download a demo of Make Mine MPEG-4 4.2 at Doug’s AppleScripts for iTunes Web site. It can be used to rip ten CDs; to continue using it after that, you’ll have to pay the US$7 shareware fee.
