Apple will open a retail store at the Ala Moana Center in Honolulu tomorrow, according to the Honolulu Advisor . The store will open its doors at 9:30 a.m.
This will be the 57th Apple retail store in the United States; another 13 or so are expected to open before the end of the year. At the Ala Moana Center, Apple has scheduled more than 20 free classes, workshops, and demonstrations throughout next week and is giving away Apple T-shirts to the first 1,000 store visitors.
“The Apple people, they’re an interesting crowd,” said Ed Slavish, president of the Hawaii Macintosh and Apple Users’ Society, or HMAUS. “They come out for new products, gadgets, new operating systems — anything that’s new and interesting that Apple puts out … they love the stuff.”
Unfortunately, he won’t be at the opening; he’ll be playing golf. Slavish said that the HMAUS’s 300 members are “super excited” to have a retail store come to Hawaii, but Apple had made no direct attempt to let the user group know of tomorrow’s grand opening.
