LizardTech will ship new versions of its Genuine Fractals line of image encoding software by the end of the month. The updates will be compatible with Mac OS X and Mac OS 9.2.
The Genuine Fractals plug-ins are used for creating high-quality images within Adobe Photoshop. Targeted to photographers, graphic artists and digital imaging professionals, they let you create resolution-independent images from any size file and, according to LizardTech, allow you to print “superior quality enlargements” without any degradation in image quality.
Genuine Fractals Print Pro 3.0 encodes and renders in RGB, CMYK, CIE-Lab, multichannel (up to 16 channels), and grayscale color spaces. Its “resolution on demand” feature lets you output any file size from a single encoded file, up to 600 percent without image degradation. The pro version also offers a batch encode.
Genuine Fractals 3.0 (standard version) supports RGB, multichannel and grayscale images. And the LE version offers the same functionality as the standard version, though it has an input file size limit of 10MB and an output file size limit of 64MB.
All three versions will be available for download on May 20, with CD versions available May 27. Pricing hasn’t yet been announced.
