ACEDVio, an OHCI-based video editing card that delivers analog and DV capture and output with native OHCI support for a variety video cameras and decks, will be available May 27 from Canopus Corp. It supports VHS, S-VHS, Hi-8 Digital8, DV, and DVCAM.
Though ACEDVio comes bundled with some Windows only software (Sonic Foundry’s Vegas), it supports the Mac and editing applications such as Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Express, iMovie, Adobe Premiere, and Avid Xpress DV. And it provides connections for storage devices, CD-RW drives, scanners, digital still cameras, and more.
ACEDVio provides video output to a monitor or TV during the editing process. It utilizes Canopus’s proprietary DV CODEC chip that provides preservation and locked audio support during analog-to-DV conversion and capture. Locked audio ensures “perfect” audio and video synchronization at all times, according to Canopus. ACEDVio has a suggested retail price of US$499.
