MacMice is taking pre-orders for the new MiniMouse, a US$29.99 two-button optical mouse that bears a striking resemblance to a baseball cap.
The MiniMouse’s design is based around a clear outer shell and a two-color inner shell of white and graphite. There are two transparent buttons and three silicon-impregnated hard rubber molded pads on the bottom surface.
“The mouse’s unique small-but-tall physical design adds to its ease of use, controllability, and comfort,” MacMice president Jack Campbell said. “Instead of performing all control movements with the fingers nearly fully extended, as with more normally shaped mice, users will find themselves controlling the mouse with more curled, gently relaxed fingers, and with more delicate, subtle motions.”
The MiniMouse is built for use only in Mac OS X (10.1 or higher). The control signal return has been tweaked to provide a snappy cursor motion. It has a sensitivity of 1,500 calculation points per second and 600 dpi (dots per inch).
