Xnet Communications GmbH has released Captain FTP 2.6, a new version of their FTP client software for the Macintosh. The new version adds support for secure FTP (SFTP) protocol and more.
Designed from the ground up for Mac OS X, Captain FTP supports Rendezvous, Jaguar’s zero-configuration networking technology. Captain FTP also sports user-definable browser configurations, a quick connect option, international font support, the ability to import addresses from NetFinder, Fetch and Transmit, and many other features.
In addition to SFTP support, Captain FTP 2.6 also features a variety of bug fixes, including improved support for YMS FTP servers, better segment downloading and more. The new version also supports text editors other than BBEdit, can upload file permissions with UMASK, and has fully localized English, German, French, Japanese and Chinese versions available.
Xnet makes Captain FTP available as a fully enabled 14-day trial version. Captain FTP costs US$25 to register. Version 2.6 is a free upgrade for all registered users of Captain FTP 2.x.
