Runtime Revolution Ltd. has announced the release of Revolution 2.0, a major new release of their software development tool for multiple operating systems, including Mac OS X.
Revolution can be used to create custom applications, database front ends, CGI processing scripts, multimedia presentations and more. A key component of Revolution’s capabilities is its transparent operation between multiple platforms. In addition to Mac OS X and “Classic” Mac OS, Revolution supports Windows, Linux and Unix.
The new version of Revolution has more than 118 substantial new features and over 500 enhancements, according to Runtime Revolution. Among the more significant changes are the addition of an XML library with full support for creating and parsing XML content; SOAP support; OS X-specific enhancements; support for Unicode text entry and manipulation; an automatic report generator; video capture, text-to-speech and other multimedia features; and much, much more.
