Mac and PC game publisher Freeverse Software has posted a new edition of MontyMail, its regularly published electronic newsletter. The newsletter sports a preview of the company’s forthcoming strategy game Solace, and an announcement of a new game as well.
Solace is a turn-based strategy game that Freeverse has previously likened to the classic board game Axis and Allies. The game puts one to six players in an ancient land led by different nation-states, each vying for conquest and control.
The game sports offensive and defensive strategy bound by military units including infantry, archers, cavalry, catapults and ballistae, transport ships, frigates, galleons and more. Solace features a 3D engine, network play or Play By E-Mail (PBEM), and more. It’s coming this summer, and you can get more details and view screenshots at the URL above.
Burning Monkey Solitaire III, the latest version of Freeverse’s long-running oddball solitaire game, is also coming soon. The collection of solitaire card games features new games like Dragon Carpet, Eliminator, Beleagured Castle and more, and now features online stats so you can compare your skills against other solitaire players.
That’s not all. There’s a new addition to the Burning Monkey franchise — Burning Monkey Mah Jong, Freeverse’s own take on the ancient Chinese tile matching game. You must match tiles in piles to remove them from play, revealing a picture underneath.
Freeverse’s Burning Monkey Mah Jong sports extensible tilesets, music, sound effects, monkey antics and more. The company stopped short of offering a specific release date, but said that Both Burning Monkey Solitaire III and Burning Monkey Mah Jong will be released this summer.
