Avid Technology Inc. has announced the availability of its new Media Composer Adrenaline. It’s a pro-level video editing system that was first introduced to attendees of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) 2003 conference earlier this year.
Media Composer Adrenaline, which runs on both Mac OS X and Windows systems, supports uncompressed Standard Definition (SD) video over FireWire. It includes 24p Film Composer offline editing, 24-bit audio capabilities and real-time color correction. It can also work with other Avid systems through the Avid unit MediaNetwork system. What’s more, the system is expandable to 10-bit high definition (HD) video if necessary.
What makes part of this possible is the Adrenaline hardware — a key component of Avid’s new Digital Nonlinear Accelerator, or DNA, product line. Media Composer Adrenaline is compatible with both Power Mac 1.42GHz Dual Processor systems and 15 and 17-inch PowerBook G4 systems, equipped with Mac OS X 10.2.4 or later, 1GB of memory; 40GB hard drive and other requirements you can view for yourself by visiting the Avid Web site.
Media Composer Adrenaline systems start at US$24,995. Avid also sells complete systems configured with Media Composer Adrenaline pre-installed.
