MacSpeech Inc., the Mac-only speech recognition company, has updated iListen to version 1.6.
iListen has “TalkAnywhere” technology, which lets you dictate into a variety of Mac applications. It translates speech to typed text and characters anywhere you would normally type. iListen is speaker dependent, meaning you have to spend some time “training” iListen to the unique cadence and timbre of your voice. However, it can handle multiple users, each with their own speech files.
Version 1.6 adapts to your voice faster and more accurately, learns new words more quickly, and has improved transcription abilities for the medical and legal professions. Other new features include “hands free” correction, larger font sizes, new voice commands for Mac OS X, and the ability to do dictation and correction directly into more applications.
If you buy iListen 1.6 by July 31, you get MacSpeech’s iLife Voice Solution free. The iLife Voice Solution allows iListen users to use their voice to control common functions and Menus within the four iLife application, iTunes, iPhoto, iDVD and iMovie.
The iListen 1.6 upgrade is free to all iListen 1.5.x users. Users of previous versions of iListen can upgrade for US$39.95 through the MacSpeech online store. For new users the cost is US$99 for a downloadable version. It’s also available in a US$149 bundle that comes with a USB microphone.
