KVM maker Gefen Inc.’s two newest products aimed at Mac users are the ADC Splitter and ADC Extender. Both products are designed to add utility to Apple’s flat-panel displays equipped with Apple Display Connectors, or ADC.
The ADC Splitter takes a single signal from an ADC-equipped Mac and splits it into two, thus allowing users to create a dual display workstation that displays the same video on both displays. The two-pound box measures about five inches square and sports an ADC input on one side and two ADC outputs on the other. It works with resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 pixels. The ADC Splitter costs US$299.
The ADC Extender features an active-circuit with a built-in DVI and USB repeater. It’ll extend any Apple flat panel display plus one USB peripheral up to 16 feet from the computer using a cable, and can be cascaded with other ADC Extender to accommodate greater distances, if necessary. It’s compatible with all Apple flat-panel displays, and it’s priced at $249.
