Appligent Inc. has released FDFMerge Lite, a PDF-related software tool that takes FDF form data and combines it with a PDF (Portable Document Format) form to create a new, completed PDF form. FDF (Form Data Form) is a format for form data created by Adobe.
FDFMerge Lite is a slimmed down version of FDFMerge targeted to customers who don’t need all the “bells and whistles” of the full version, but who deal with on-demand form filing. Built to require minimal programming, only scripts, rather than new programs, need to be written in order to manipulate the US$995 application.
FDFMerge Lite (and FDFMerge) transforms FDF form data into a format that can be read with Adobe’s free Acrobat Reader software without special plug-ins. With scripts added by the user, FDFMerge, and now FDFMerge Lite, can integrate with a Web server and a database.
FDFMerge Lite can deliver “flattened” PDF forms that can be viewed, saved, and printed with Adobe’s free Adobe Reader or any PDF viewer.
FDFMerge Lite can encrypt output PDF files with standard Acrobat security settings at 40- or 128-bit strength. With its XFDF Support. It can process either .fdf or .xfdf files, facilitating XML to PDF processing. The application also offers buttons, check boxes, combo boxes, list boxes, radio buttons and single-line, multi-line and read only text fields.
