Sonnet Technologies Inc. has dropped the price of its Encore/ST G4 CPU upgrades and has also released a new higher-capacity USB flash memory drive.
The Encore/ST G4 line upgrades several models of Power Mac G4, including the Cube (when used with an optional installation kit). The upgrades are available in clock speeds including 800MHz, 1.0GHz and 1.2GHZ, and prices have been dropped by as much as US$70 — now the upgrades cost $279.95, $429.95 and $529.95, respectively.
All Encore/ST G4 upgrades come with 2MB of Double Data Rate (DDR) L3 cache.
Sonnet has also released a 512MB version of its Piccolo USB flash drive. The Piccolo 512MB works like any removable media and is compatible with both Mac and Windows computers. It’s about the size of a AA battery. Once the Piccolo is plugged in to an available USB port, the device appears on the desktop and mounts like a regular hard drive.
The 512MB Piccolo model costs US$199.95. It’s available alongside other Piccolo models ranging from 64MB to 256MB, with prices from $49.95 to $129.95.
